Maintenance work

Due to maintenance cut-backs, the cryogenic holding unit has been malfunctioning. This morning, when the harried staff belatedly arrived to check up on the problems, a couple of half decomposed corpses had to be removed. We say farewell to Roaster and Soth, as we surrendered their bodies to the raised floor in server room 7B.

FoolTown, the history, the now, the future.

The term 'fooltown' or 'foolstown' is first found in the yiddish literature around 1820, the auther Mendele Moycher Sforim's novel 'Glupsk' (translates to Foolstown) paints a grim picture of desolation, poverty and despair. Another excellent example is from South Jersey where a man bankrupted himself building a mansion and hence the town was named Fooltown (later renamed to Georgetown). Today the term is more commonly used to describe the incompetence, uselessness or the like of a group of people.

Since none of us are any good at Counter-Strike we felt that 'Fooltown' would be an appropriate name for the servers we play on. A gathering point for the fools we are.

But the days of Fooltown are numbered. Apparently the big chief of the danish BoomTown Counter-Strike community believes that the sole reason for the naming of Fooltown was to ridicule BoomTown. Given the last weeks events I find it hard to disagree, Fooltown IS a more appropiate name for BoomTown than our servers. The man clearly wasn't capable of asking us politely to change the name but instead went with threats. I have nothing but contempt for this and I find it quite appalling to discover that such attitudes and misguided persons actually thrieve in today's corporate world. This is after all a behavior most of us outgrow in our upbringing.

..and boy it is ugly.. apparently Valve removed all of Gooseman's playermodels and death animations.. rumors has it that a 1.1 will contain those models.. WE CANT WAIT! :-) The torso of the new models is completely numb.. watch 'em jump.. legs twiggling but upper body complete still.. not very neat..

So.. we're just had our first ClanWar... it was really really fun.. a nice "even" match against DBT. First round we demolished them totally.. then they demolished us ever better.. damn.. so.. final score 42:40 favor DBT. They won .. this time ;-)
